The Pekoe Trail, Stage 12, Trekking Fm Udaweriya To Haputale

This unforgettable trekking experience begins with a scenic train journey from Ella or Haputale to Ohiya, setting the tone for one of the most beautiful stages of the Pekoe Trail. Known as a hidden gem, the Udaweriya Valley offers sweeping views across southern Sri Lanka, and on clear days, even glimpses of the distant ocean.

The walk begins with a gentle route through tea plantations and quiet estate villages, where you will meet local tea workers and experience their daily life. The trail gradually transitions into a diverse forest ecosystem including pine forests, eucalyptus stands, natural forests, and sections of lush rainforest. These environments are known for their calming and rejuvenating effects, making the journey both physically refreshing and mentally uplifting.

The journey ends at Adisham Bungalow, a colonial-era mansion from 1931 now serving as a Benedictine monastery, finishing in Haputale for onward travel.
