Your first stop is the nearby town of Nivithigala, home to a vibrant and authentic street gem market. Operating from around 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM, this market is largely frequented by local traders, making it a rare and immersive experience for visitors. Here, you’ll see a wide variety of rough gemstones—including sapphires, spinels, garnets, and tourmalines—and even have the opportunity to bargain and purchase stones with the guidance of your expert host.
