Overview
Experience the vibrant multicultural city of Negombo, starting at the Sri Mutthu Mari Amman Temple on Sea Street. From there, stroll through the bustling local market, where vendors display fresh vegetables and fruits in colorful stalls.
Next, we walk along King George’s Drive, named after King George’s historic visit to the city. This scenic road runs parallel to the Indian Ocean, offering views of the anglers’ activity area and the dry fish processing center.
As the aroma of dried fish fills the air, we continue through the Lellama Fish Market, located next to the prison, just before the Dutch Fort. A short walk brings us to the iconic Kothlawala Bridge, perfect for capturing stunning photos of the fishing boats in the lagoon.
We then head back across the bridge to visit St. Mary’s Cathedral, a landmark of faith and architecture in Negombo. Here, travelers can enjoy a taste of Sri Lankan spicy snacks or sweets along with refreshing beverages.
