Overview
Your day begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Colombo. You’ll be driven to the Colombo Fort Railway Station to board the morning express. As the train pulls away, settle into your seat for one of Asia’s most beautiful rail journeys—the track runs so close to the water you’ll feel like you’re gliding over the waves.
Upon arrival in Galle, your private guide will meet you at the station to begin a walking tour of the Galle Fort. Walk the massive stone ramparts, see the iconic white lighthouse, and explore the "living" fort where Dutch-colonial architecture meets vibrant modern boutiques and cafes.
After lunch, we travel north along the coast to the Madu River. Board a private boat for a safari through the mangrove tunnels. You'll stop at a local cinnamon island to see how the world-famous spice is harvested and processed by hand.
Next, visit a Sea Turtle Conservation Project in Kosgoda. Here, you’ll see several species of turtles—from tiny hatchlings to rescued giants—and learn how conservationists protect their eggs from poachers. Before heading back to Colombo, enjoy some downtime at a scenic beach, where you can swim in the turquoise waters or simply enjoy the sunset with a fresh coconut.
